What's included

  • Seat time on a lattice boom crane
  • Option with instructor coaching or without
  • Practice suited to LAT practical exam preparation

Practice on a Lattice Boom Crane

Lattice boom cranes respond differently from hydraulic machines, and even experienced operators benefit from time in the seat before an exam. Lattice practice per hour lets you book that time in hourly blocks, whether you want to refine technique or get ready for the NCCCO LAT practical.

With or Without Coaching

Choose a coached session if you want an experienced instructor watching your swings, load control and placement and telling you what to adjust. Choose an uncoached session if you just need repetitions. Tell the office which option you want when you request time.

Recommended Hours

We recommend at least three to four hours to build confidence before attempting certification. Candidates often schedule practice alongside the monthly Mobile Crane Operator Certification Prep Program or right before a LAT Practical. Bring hard-toe footwear, a hard hat, gloves and photo ID.

Skills Worth Practicing

Use your hours on the things that cost points on the practical: smooth starts and stops, controlling load swing, accurate placement and coordinating boom and swing functions at the same time. On a lattice boom crane, inertia is greater and corrections take longer to show, so learning to anticipate is part of the work. If you are practicing with coaching, tell the instructor which part of the course gives you the most trouble so the time goes where it helps most.

Getting Scheduled

Enter the number of hours, choose with or without coaching, and pay in the online box on this page. The office then confirms the exact time slot. If you'd rather book by phone, send the enrollment request form with the hours you want.
